Custom fit
Nowadays people talk a lot of custom fitting, and for us it is a must to be able to provide you with custom fitted golf clubs. Most of us have their hands on the same level of height if we stand next to each other. This fact has made it easy for the big golf manufacturers to standardize clubs and through this make a lot of money.
There are many golfers that do not fit in the standard golf measurements. Approximately 20-30 % of all golfers have to play with clubs that are not fitted after their needs and measures.
It is not just about which club length you should have, it is also about your opportunity to be able to build your own tailor made golf club. With choice of grip, shaft, length, and club head.
In the USA 2/3 of all players, or 26 million people, buy their clubs tailor made. We believe that this is the future in golf.
Static custom fit vs. Dynamic custom fit
Static custom fit is, without considering the swing itself, developing a golf club perfectly fitted for you. Measurements like your length, the length between the floor and the wrist, hand size, and swing speed need to be looked at.
Static custom fit suits for everyone who from time to time changes his/her swing. If you always have a perfect swing, which does not change over time, dynamical fitting can be taken into consideration. Here your swing itself needs to be looked at.
We at NordicaGolf do not say that one of these methods is better than the other. It is up to you as a customer to decide. The fact remains. How many players have a swing that does not change over time?
A well-known golf manufacturer that provides static club fitting is Ping.
Male vs. Female
These days’ standardized clubs are available in ladies and men sizes. Ladies clubs are, as a roll of thumb, one inch shorter than men clubs. This works fairly well because women are often shorter than men. But there are women that are 180 cm (5 ft 11 in) tall as there are men that are 160 cm (5 ft 3 in) tall. Many women should in other words not play with clubs that are one inch shorter. Instead they should play with clubs that are maybe 0,5 inch shorter with a little lie adjustment.
We do not make any difference between men and women. Instead we look at your height and swing speed. In this way a woman that is 170 cm (5 ft 7 in) tall and physically strong never get clubs that are adapted to someone that is shorter and weaker. Nevertheless, if you know that you in fact play well with ladies clubs you should choose ladies standard lenght when you make the length choice.
Custom fit Guide
By using our guide you can design your optimized golf club. The guide is to be seen as assistance for you who has never played with tailor made clubs. If you know by experience that you play with standard length (ladies or men) clubs but the guide tells you to take ½ inch longer clubs, you should of course take what you self think is the best. The content is that you should always choose what feels best for you. We want to give you the opportunity to choose!
Grip size
With some easy measurements we can determine what type of grip size you should have. We have grip sizes from Small up to Jumbo. We only offer grips from the well-known grip manufacturers like Lamkin Crossline, Golf Pride, and Winn.
Shafts
The shafts are maybe the most important part of the golf club. With the shaft you control the length and precision. We only offer shafts from the big well-known shaft manufacturers like True Temper, Adila, Grafalloy, and UST.
Flex
Flex is the shaft flexibility and is divided in lady, senior, regular, stiff and x-stiff. What you choose is depending on your swing speed. If you have a fast swing speed you should have a stiffer shaft. If you have a more calm swing you should have a more flexible shaft. The shaft has to follow your movement through the entire swing. When the club head is hitting the ball you want the club blade to be in exact aligns with the ball. If you have a shaft that is too stiff, the shaft will not be able to straighten up in time and you will hit the ball to the right, for the right hand player. Do you instead have a too loose shaft, the shaft will bend too much and you will be hitting the ball to the left.
There are no standards in shaft manufacturing. That is why a regular shaft can be stiff at another shaft manufacturer. We use the guidelines that the specific shaft manufacturer provides. In the guide we have made it easy for you to find your certain shaft and flex.
You could say that a stiffer shaft gives you more precision on the costs of the length and a looser shaft gives you more length but less precision.
Height
Players that are in between 170-185 cm (5 ft 7 in – 6 ft 1 in) can often use standard length clubs. If you are taller or shorter you should probably use longer respectively shorter clubs. We do not make any difference between men and women. Instead we look at your physical build-up.
We use these measures as standard lengths on irons shafts and graphite shafts. Ladies standard lenght is minus 1 inch from the table below. Hybrids are 1 inch longer then irons.

Lie
Lie is the angel between the shaft and the club head’s sole. If the shaft is too upright the toe of the club will touch ground first and you will strike the ball to the right. If instead the shaft is too flat, the club heel will touch ground first and you will strike the ball to the left.
Shaft too flat |
Shaft correct |
Shaft too upright |
Drivers, fairway woods, and the low irons are not as much affected of the lie angel. That is because their loft is lower and that makes the surface you hit the ball straighter.
